What Is Royalty in iGaming?

Royalty in iGaming is a fee paid by a casino operator for using gaming content or technology provided by a software supplier.

In casino game aggregation, royalties are commonly calculated as a percentage of GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) generated by games from a specific provider.

At BetConfig, royalty fees are calculated separately for each game provider based on the GGR generated by that provider's games.

How Is Royalty Calculated?

Royalty = Provider GGR × Royalty Rate (%)

For example:

  • Game Provider GGR: €10,000

  • Royalty Rate: 10%

  • Total Royalty: €1,000

In this example, the operator pays €1,000 in royalty fees for the selected provider.

Why Do Royalty Rates Differ?

Each game provider may have different commercial terms. Royalty percentages can vary depending on the provider, contractual agreements, and other commercial conditions.

For operators using BetConfig, royalty calculations are based on the GGR of each individual provider rather than applying one universal rate to all casino games.

This allows provider-specific fees to be calculated according to the applicable commercial terms.

Royalty is a cost for the operator and should not be confused with GGR or net profit.
